Makes my blood boil
Every now and then I see something that just makes my blood boil today I pulled up the local news section on yahoo and saw this. Anyone out there with better Google skills than I might be able to do it faster but I am going to try to find out all I can about the conviction and the appeal. He did it there is no question, but an appellate judge threw out the sentence seems like he was the one acting irresponsibly.

Whether or not I get worked up over this depends on details that I don't fully understand. If the judge vacated the death sentence, but left life (without parole) I don't particularly care--I'm neither a fan nor an extreme opponent of the death penalty. If he's requiring a new trial to keep the goblin in jail, I'll share your anger.
He still has a life sentence but there was no parole stipulation. I am angry about this because I am firm believer that law enforcemet officers deserve extra protection under the law because they put their lives on the line every day to protect people from scum like this guy and if anyone can kill them without any extra penalties attached it promotes a sense of empowerment to criminals because they know the penalty is the same as if the kill a rival drug dealer etc...
